It’s been a long and fruitful year in which ODD put forward its first fully curated program – PRIVATELY – focusing on notions of contemporary privacy.
For our anniversary event, we are launching our first publication, edited by Cristina Bogdan, with contributions by Anca Bucur, Florian Cramer, Adriana Gheorghe, V. Leac, Bogdan Lypkhan, Nita Mocanu, Cosmina Moroșan, Germán Sierra, Marius Stoica, Vlad Levente Viski, designed by Mihai Șovăială and published by Fractalia. All the original contributions further question issues developed in the residencies, exhibitions, reading group & theory sessions which ODD devised in 2017.
For the second part of the evening, Beatrice Sommer and Cristiana Tăutu have prepared a special edition of the newly launched listening sessions Introspective. Our guest Vlad Ionescu aka Domnul Valentin is one of the first catalysts behind the revival of Atelier 35 in the early 2000s. The space at Șelari 13 was then run by various curatorial teams, who focused on courageous projects featuring young artists from the local an international scene, and went on to host ODD between 2015-17. At the end of this year, the Artists Union will be running the space themselves, choosing to showcase decorative arts in a space designed for experiment.
While we mourn the loss of Șelari 13 for the contemporary art scene, we acknowledge that it had become difficult to handle due to the noise condition in the Old Town. We choose to celebrate its long and important history with this party, which we dedicate both to everyone who kept this space alive in the past years, and to those involved with our own projects in the space.
Please join us for a glass of wine and some idiosyncratic sounds.
